A fantastic opportunity has arisen within our client law firm’s Finance Dept., seeking a Snr Legal Cashier to join their friendly team.

Required qualifications, skills and expertise

The successful candidate will be experienced as a Snr Legal Cashier and who has trained in the principles of book-keeping, general accounting including good bank reconciliation knowledge. It is essential to have experience in SAR’s (Solicitors Accountancy Rules) and a good working knowledge of legal accounting.

Main responsibilities (to be revised from time to time)

1. Banking functions including bank reconciliations.

2. Dealing with petty cash including monthly reconciliation.

3. Processing client and office accounting transactions including postings.

4. Assisting in the sending of monies by electronic transfer using Barclays.net Banking system.

5. Assisting with the control of designated client deposit accounts including monthly reconciliations.

6. Processing new clients including ensuring AML procedures are followed and dealing with source of funds issues that arise. Advising fee earners on AML requirements in line with the Firms procedures and processing them through First AML, used for electronic ID, and checking.

7. Managing the input of all Land Registry and Companies House fees.

8. Checking bills before engrossment and sending to the client.

9. Dealing with any daily accounts queries as may arise.

10. Assisting the Finance Supervisor on her days off to maintain momentum in cash collection.

11. To ensure the filing and administration of the accounts department including filing of Money Laundering identification sheets is kept up to date.

12. Preparing of monthly summary of bank SAR reconciliations.

13. Supervising the printing of ledgers and photocopying in preparation for the annual SAR Audit.

14. Assisting with the annual professional indemnity insurance renewal process.

15. To generally assist the Finance Supervisor with any matter that may arise to ensure the smooth running of the Legal Accounts Dept.

Skills & Requirements: A Snr Legal Cashier with at least 6-10 years experience within Legal Accounting essential, together with SAR’s experience and the use of Accounts Software would be useful.
