Accounts Assistant – Bedfordshire Ref: L4L927
Our client law firm is currently seeking an Accounts Assistant on a permanent part-time basis to join their Legal Cashiering Dept., and to assist the Head of Finance.
The successful candidate will carry out responsibilities and duties in support of the operation of the firm’s accounting system. You will need to be numerate with a background in book-keeping or perhaps someone studying AAT or with AAT Accounting experience. You will also have the opportunity to learn all aspects of Legal Cashiering and help with the smooth running of the Finance Dept:-
To ensure that all banking is done daily as directed
To facilitate the daily cheque-run
To enter postings to the accounts system on a daily basis
To execute Telegraphic Transfers
To ensure that all authorised invoices are entered onto the system in a timely manner
To manage Petty Cash
To manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with minimum supervision
Recording of Land Registry, Geodesys, HMCTS payments and Infotrack
Taking Client Card payments by telephone
Update the banking regularly throughout the day
To carry out the internal transfers (client to office)
To post client /deposit interest on a monthly basis
To open/close deposit accounts
To archive files on ALB
To monitor the Credit Control module on a daily basis
Start Date: ASAP
Salary £20k to £22k pro rata, depending upon level of experience.
Holidays: Standard.
Hours: 11.15 am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday, with 30 mins for lunchbreak. There could be some flexibility on the hours but a willingness to work until 5.15pm on at least some of the days is most essential to the client.
Skills & Requirements:
This may suit someone who is either a Legal Cashier looking for reduced hours or a Book-keeper who is studying AAT. Or someone with a strong background in accounts/finance, given the similarities in the roles.
